Instructions for Submitting Photos

There are 2 ways you can submit photos that will provide a high quality image for the website.  Sending photos as e-mail attachments usually produces low quality images.

1.  The most economical and still safe method is for you to FedEx (now known as FedEx Kinko's) a package to me.  After I scan-in the photos, I will return them to you as quickly and as safely as I can.  Get a proper cardboard mailing container from any office supply retailer, such as Staples or OfficeMax.  If you have clear plastic sheet protectors, I'd recommend placing the photos in those before placing in the cardboard container.  If the photo is in a decorative cardboard matte which bears the studio or photographer's name, please be sure to include that as well.  For example, see the photos of Bert and Neva.  These frames have significance in helping to identify the timeframe and location the photo was taken.  You may just write on a yellow Post-it Note and place it on the back of the photo.  The info we're interested in knowing is who is in the picture, the date the picture was taken, and where it was taken.  Make sure you indicate that I have to sign for the package.  Insure your package and have it sent to:

2.  A bit more expensive, but less risk to your valuable photos is for you to take them to a local location which will scan them for you.  I recommend Kinko's (now known as FedEx Kinko's).  You can check their website for locations close to you.  Call before you go.  Make sure the location has the ability to scan photos.  Not all of them do.  Please have them scanned at a high resolution (300dpi at 200-300%) with "True Color" and as JPEG images.  Even if the photos are black and white, I would prefer they be scanned as "True Color".  They will place the scanned digital images onto a CD which you can then mail to me at the above address.  If you use this method, you should also enclose a written description of what the photos are of (who is in the picture, the date the picture was taken, and where it was taken).  If the photo is in a decorative cardboard matte which bears the studio or photographer's name, please be sure that the scan includes all of that as well.  For example, see the photos of Bert and Neva.  These frames have significance in helping to identify the timeframe and location the photo was taken.
